Our Very First Cloud AwardsAnd the winners for portal page design are!:
The Lucid Cloud page by tmxxine, a long time Puppy Linux contributor.
The page is simply an image map of a Puppy Linux desktop with 17 icons, 16 of which are linked to stuff in the cloud and coded to open in a new browser window, so the browser icon is linked to http://www.virtual-browser.com/ while the email icon is linked to http://www.gishpuppy.com/, for examples. All in all, a great little portal page to bookmark or save in your favorites.
Clicking on the Install icon opens up a link to our next winner, the Desktop page at PupWeb.Org. This page also features a Puppy Linux desktop background, but takes things up a notch by using drop-down menus to provide many more links to pages to do stuff in the cloud. The the links are NOT coded to open in a new window, so I right click a lot to open in a new tab/window when I use this page. Your mileage, of course, will vary.
Both of these are great intros to cloud computing for folks who are new to it, and handy for those who have been at it for awhile.
